On May 31st, Western Beauty Institute instructors and students
were invited to the Pechanga Casino and Resort in Temecula,
California to participate in this year's SuperSunday event
sponsored by SuperCuts and The Regis Corporation with help
from Esche and Alexander Public Relations.
Students were there to compete in two events, the Junior
Mannequin event and the SuperStyle Hip Hop, Rock and Roll,
Rap Celebrity Look-a-Like event. From each campus of Western
Beauty Institute, competitors were selected from in-house
competitions to travel to Pechanga and represent their school.
Western Beauty Institute was fortunate enough to have Marlet
Perez as our junior stylist representing the San Fernando
Valley campus and Brenda Godoy as our junior stylist representing
the Antelope Valley Campus. In the live model category,
we were fortunate to have Mitzi Ortiz as our senior stylist
with her model Virginia Ramirez from the San Fernando Valley
campus and Diahann Pulido with her model Jaime Tenorio from
the Antelope Valley campus. Also recognized by receiving
an exclusive class from Milady were San Fernando Valley
Campus Seniors Carlos Torres and Elizabeth Olivieros.
Students were also encouraged to show up and cheer on the
"home team". And cheer they certainly did. The
volume was cranked all the way up and blasting. That's where
Western Beauty Institute hit the Jackpot. Not only did the
school win the attendance First Place Prize for the fifth
year in a row, but also the Second Place Prize for attendance
as well for the Antelope Valley Campus, AND the Antelope
Valley Senior Team of Diahann Pulido and Jaime Tenorio won
Honorable Mention in SuperStyle Hip Hop, Rock and Roll,
Rap Celebrity Look-a-Like competition AND the San Fernando
Valley Senior Team of Mitzi Ortiz and Virginia Ramirez topped
it off by winning Second Place in the competition. Everyone
received sizable cash prizes and some wonderful product
prizes. This year was truly the best year ever for WBI at
Pechanga. WBI thanks all who participated in this year's
SuperSunday and we would like to thank the competitors and
our wonderful winners for a job well done!
