Prom Night is an important social event for most students. At Western Beauty Institute, this is no exception. But this particular social event, held recently at the San Fernando Valley campus of WBI, was a little different from your average prom night. In fact, there was no “prom” at all.

For Cosmetology students, the most important part of “Prom Night” was not the party, but rather the preparation. It takes skilled planning and execution of cosmetology skills to create the best, most fashionable, red-carpet-arrival-ready “looks” for such an event.

Seven Hair & Makeup stylists from Ms. Luisjuan’s Freshman Cosmetology class practiced and performed their procedures on twenty models for the competition:

“The competition was designed to motivate the students,” said WBI Student Services Placement and Financial Aid Officer Rachel Reynoso. “The students felt like they were back in high school and were so excited!”
