NEW PHOTOS ADDED!

On June 1st, Western Beauty Institute instructors and students were invited to the Pechanga Casino and Resort in Temecula, California to participate in this year’s Super Sunday event sponsored by SuperCuts. Instructors were educated and entertained by Jamie Jones and her associate during a fact-packed, fun-filled seminar that was designed to sharpen teaching skills and create an impact on students with clever instructional devices.

Instructors were also treated to the Ultimate Teacher Awards Ceremony. The stylists from all Southern California Supercuts Salons were invited to nominate their Ultimate Teacher through a letter explaining why they were the Ultimate Teacher. Each stylist read their letter and, through tears of true emotion, each teacher was recognized and awarded. During the presentation, Sharon Esche of the Esche & Alexander Public Relations firm gave a speech and asked all previous Ultimate Teacher award recipients to stand and be recognized. Fortunately, our own Ms. Becky Breda was there to rise and be recognized again. Ms. Breda was nominated and awarded Ultimate Teacher recognition last year at the previous Super Sunday event.

Students were there to compete in two events, the Junior Mannequin event and the SuperStyle Hooray for Hollywood event. From each campus of Western Beauty Institute, competitors were selected from in-house competitions to travel to Pechanga and represent their school. Western Beauty Institute was fortunate enough to have Erika Oviedo from the San Fernando Valley campus and Annette Moreno from the Antelope Valley campus  represent the school in the Junior Mannequin competition and Claudia Vindell, stylist, with Daniela Trana as model Rihanna from the San Fernando Valley campus and Rebecca Garcia as stylist and Katie Scavo as model from the Antelope Valley campus represent the school in the senior competition.

Students were also encouraged to show up and cheer on the “home team.” And cheer they certainly did. The volume was cranked all the way up and blasting. That’s where Western Beauty Institute hit the Jackpot. Not only did the school win the attendance First Place Prize for the fourth year in a row, but also the Second Place Prize for attendance as well for the Antelope Valley Campus, AND the Antelope Valley Senior Team of Rebecca Garcia and Katie Scavo won Second Place in the Hollywood competition. This year was truly the Jackpot year for WBI at Pechanga. WBI thanks all who participated in this year’s Super Sunday and we would like to thank the competitors and our wonderful winners for a job well done!
