WBI Wins Big at Super Sunday!
The Winners
The Winners

Western Beauty Institute has another winner! The Lancaster team of Rebecca Garcia, stylist, and Katie Scavo, model, won second place at the fabulous Super Sunday extravaganza. The event was held again this year at Pechanga Casino and Resort near Temecula, California. The Regis Corporation, owner of SuperCuts Hair Salons, arranges for students attending cosmetology schools from around Southern California to participate in a massively-produced competition with blasting contemporary music, staging, lights, prizes and hundreds of their fellow students urging them on, very loudly. It has been compared by some (who are knowledgeable of the event) to a rock concert starring student stylists. Each student competitor on stage was selected through “in-school” competitions at their respective schools. Teachers from the schools registered the students into the competition and shared with them the rules and the preparation needed. Supercuts supplied managers to mentor the student competitors and prepare them to show their best work.

Prizes were equal to many professional styling competitions. First Place was a cash prize of $500, $250 for Second Place, $150 for Third Place and $50 each for the two honorable mention prizes. Each winner AND their models received beautiful winner’s trophies and a “swag bag” of high-quality professional shears, professional trimmers ($70 value), clippers ($100 value) and a large assortment of professional products from manufacturers and distributors.

Western Beauty Institute has proudly participated in this event since its inception and has always sent the schools best to participate and win. This year’s winners come from the Lancaster campus of Western Beauty Institute and we most proudly announce that they will be held in high esteem following their well-deserved victory. Congratulations Rebecca Garcia and Katie Scavo! You already are successful.
