On Saturday April 18th, WBI staff and students were present again supporting the local Poppy Festival celebration in Lancaster City Park in the Antelope Valley. This is the second year the school has participated and again it was a rewarding experience for all.
On hand were Valeria Montenegro, Placement Officer, Joy Rodriguez, Admissions Representative, Daisy Enamorado, Instructor, Randy Fugate, Director of Marketing. Also on hand were students Allison Lesniak, Esthetics School, Stefani Stevens, Esthetics School and Chantia Reynolds, Cosmetology School.
From the opening of the festival with the wailing bagpipe procession, the WBI team was inundated with parents and children. At times, the crowd was 5 to 6 rows deep. We even had Captain Jack Sparrow drop by for a few trinkets.
Children had their faces adorned with custom flowers and creatures, children and adults had their hair braided and spray-painted bright neon glow colors. The crowds were so great, every brochure, folder, pen, key fob or other gift was given away by the end of the show.
Director of Marketing Randy Fugate said, “Again, I feel the Poppy Festival was a huge success. We were able to brighten the lives of so many children and at the same time speak to high school students and others about our school and the recipe for success WBI has for each participant. Clear Channel’s Anjeanine Brown and Chris Park were a large reason this event was a true success. WBI would like to thank Clear Channel for their delightful hospitality and help this year. As our governor used to say, ‘We’ll be back!’”
