WBI Participates in LA’s AIDS Walk
Despite advancements made in the treatment and prevention of HIV, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that the overall rate of infection continues to rise. This is the reason behind the AIDS Walk Los Angeles, a 10-kilometer walkathon that benefits AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) in addition to several other local AIDS service organizations. For the past 25 years, APLA has been dedicated to providing bilingual services, prevention education, and leadership on HIV/AIDS-related policy and legislation.
Western Beauty Institute will be participating in this important event, held on Sunday, October 21st in West Hollywood, California. The AIDS Walk begins and ends in West Hollywood Park at San Vicente Boulevard, between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. The approximately 6-mile course is expected to take 2-3 hours to complete. Opening ceremonies start at 9:30 a.m., with the Walk scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Participants can register online and set up their own accounts where their sponsors and supporters can pledge donations. Maps, parking and entertainment information can also be found on the site.
WBI's winning fundraising class will win a surprise gift. |
