WBI Styles AV’s “Teen Scene”
Student demonstrations of hair styling, makeup tips, karaoke singing and face painting were big hits at the “Teen Scene,” held at the Antelope Valley Mall on July 28th. “I'm very happy we were able to support Clear Channel, the Antelope Valley Mall, and all of the other businesses who took part in ‘Teen Scene’, and very happy we were able to show teens the opportunities available to them in the Beauty business,” said WBI’s Marketing Director Randy Fugate.
Hundreds of Antelope Valley teens came to the show, which included live music and fashion shows.
“The students did an excellent job,” added WBI Instructor Mark Walker. “Their professionalism and enthusiasm were an inspiration to the people that attended the event.” Walker’s brightly-colored removable hair extensions were so popular, they were all given out by early in the day. Admissions Director Joy Rodriguez handed out flyers and answered questions from many prospective students interested in beauty careers, and Marketing Director Randy Fugate took photos of the lively event, held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in front of the Dillards department store. “It was a great success,” said Fugate, whose former graphic designer, Megan Dahl, also stopped by for a visit.
Many local residents got hair styles and make-up applications from some of WBI’s best students, including some who left with elaborate “do’s.”
WBI students who participated in the morning were: Cecilia Acevedo, Norma Torres, Luz Del Real, Angela Alcala, Indira Gomez, Tracey Fernandez, and Denise Campiani. In the afternoon, students were: Leticia Saldana, Veronica Garcia, Wendy Gonzalez, Vanessa Dodd, Patricia Gomez, Linda Acuña, Jessica Huerta, Vita Marie Adams, and Jennie Alvarado.
