Day Nail Technology Course consists of six-hundred (600 clock hours. Financial aid is available for the day course only.
Night Time Manicurist Course consists of four-hundred (400) clock hours which include a minimum of 110 clock hours of technical instruction (lecture, demonstrations, classroom participation and/or examination) with the remaining 290 clock hours allotted to the completion of the state board’s minimum specified practical operations.
Description of Course:
This course covers all phases of manicuring and pedicuring. Successful completion of this course and successful completion of the State National Examination and Licensure will allow the Nail Technician to perform Manicuring and Pedicuring services.
In our modern facilities we will teach you:
- All the rules and regulations of the manicuring industry
- Health and safety standards and how to protect yourself
- Disinfection and sanitation
- Anatomy, physiology, chemistry and theory
- Proper use of implements used in manicuring/pedicuring
- Terminology and procedures; including water and oil manicure and pedicure, brush-on nails, nail wraps, nail tips, and more
- Analysis of hands and feet to determine disorders
- Recognition of various skin conditions
- Communication and salesmanship
- Preparing a resume and employment development
- Nail creations
- Desk and reception
- And much more!
Educational Goals:
Students will attend regularly scheduled theory classes (lecture), read assigned chapters of their text books, perform actual practical operations (services) on another person, a student or mannequin, and must take and pass assigned tests with a grade point average of 70% (C) or better.
The student will learn the technical techniques and methods of performing manicuring, pedicuring, nail wraps and repairs, application of acrylic nails, application of nail tips, safety and sanitation requirements. Reception desk duties, professionalism, ethics, personal grooming, dress, employer-employee relationships, personal and business ethics, customer relations and communication skills. Technical instruction will be provided to students in each skill prior to the student actually performing client services (practical operations).
Instruction is provided to each student involving: how to seek and obtain employment, payroll deductions, preparation of employment applications, applicable laws and regulations, and consumer safety. Instruction in consumer safety is an on-going concern and is to be practiced throughout every aspect of the course of instruction. The state board recommends that schools provide training in the areas of communication skills that include professional ethics, salesmanship, decorum, record keeping, and client service record cards.
Financial Aid:
Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. You can apply for financial aid by filling out a FAFSA form. The grants received from the government are not loans, which means they do not have to be paid back. In addition, we also offer student loans that do need to be repaid six months after graduation date.
